What are the food and beverage arrangements at the villa?

One of the many attractions of staying at a private villa is to enjoy excellent cuisine at a cost much lower than in hotels or restaurants.

Food:

Ambalama has its own in-house chef exclusively for the requirements of guests. There is a villa menu but please do ask for your favourites too!

Each day the chef will discuss with you your meal requirements. Please note that we do not operate as a hotel kitchen and therefore do not stock food. If you request to eat in at short notice, please allow for the necessary time to buy the ingredients and prepare the food. When staying as a group we request you dine from a shared menu selection.

Drinks: The villa can provide soft drinks, excellent local Bintang beer and a selection of wines. We do have a limited supply of alcoholic beverages provided at cost plus an administrative charge. Of course you may bring your own beverages to the villa without charge.

Cost: When booking the whole villa exclusively food is charged at cost plus 21% tax. Ingredients are bought fresh daily and payment can be made in cash or by credit card at the end of the stay or periodically. When booking by individual villa we offer a very reasonably priced menu.

How do we arrange transport?

We recommend you allow us to arrange airport transfers since the drivers are familiar with the villa location and we have the flexibility to provide the size of the van/car required. Transport for whilst you stay can be easily arranged – we have a luxurious villa car available exclusively for guests at very reasonable rates. Rental per day, including driver and petrol is quite economical and varies depending on size and type of vehicle.

What are the activities in and around the villa?

We have a lot of activities that you can take part in and around the villa!

We have several local activities such as golf, temples and paddy fields that are within just 15 minutes of the villa. You can also take advantage of the growing number of F&B outlets at Canggu and Echo Beach just 15 mins away or Seminyak is 30 mins drive from the vila.

Want activities brought to you? Ambalama can arrange for in-house activities such as massages, yoga or traditional Balinese dance performances for a reasonable price. Please speak to the Head of House upon arrival for details.

What is the policy on children?

Children of all ages are welcome at Ambalama Villa, and many guests enjoy family holidays with us each year. We have a baby cot available on request. The Guest Villas each have a large daybed which is suitable for children or an adult to sleep on.

Please do note that the villa has three swimming pools with no fencing and a number of water features in the grounds as well as an upper level floor in the Main Pavilion with a significant drop. Young children need to be watched in case they wander.

Is the villa available for private functions?

Ambalama is ideal for private functions due to its large public areas, enchanting water features, spectacular views and staff service. The villa is are popular for weddings, be they small and intimate or larger up to 150 pax, family reunions and honeymoons, but we also frequently accommodate off site meetings and wellness groups.

What does housekeeping provide?

Your rooms will be made up each morning and prepared in the evening. All beds have mosquito nets and we do fog the premises on a regular basis. Please do try our proprietary Ambalama gels and shampoo. Towels are replaced on a regular basis but please just ask if you need a fresh set. Bedsheets are changed every 3 days.

If you have laundry to be washed, please place it in the laundry basket located in each bathroom. Laundry will be washed in-house or sent to a nearby laundry. You can speak with the Head of House about laundry charges. Dry cleaning is possible.

How many staff members are in the villa?

We want our staff to be available, but feel it’s important that it’s unobtrusive so you can enjoy the privacy of your villa.

The villa has a manager and four housekeeping staff plus a chef exclusively as the service of the guests .

Can I invite extra guests?

The villa is organised and set up for staying guests but we do appreciate on occasion you may wish to invite outside guests to come for a meal. There is a cover charge of US$10 per outside guest per meal.

What about security & safety?

Ambalama has security guards on duty from 3pm to 7am every day. In Cemagi, crime is infrequent but we do encourage you to be sensible with your belongings, be it at the villa or outside. We provide a safe box in each room and we recommend you do not leave money, jewelry or phones/laptops in the Main Pavilion or in the Bale at night. We also recommend you lock your bedroom door at night.

If you do encounter a stranger in the property who arouses suspicion, please immediately alert the staff.

NO SMOKING in the bedrooms please! Each bedroom has a fire alarm system and there are fire extinguishers located in each guest villa and also in the Main Pavilion. There is a panic alarm buzzer located in the corridor leading from the dining area to the kitchen (opposite the powder room).

What about gratuities?

Unless otherwise stated the villa rental EXCLUDES gratuities. We recommend a gratuity equivalent to a minimum of 5% of the total villa rental for your stay which can be passed at the end of your stay to the Head of House. The staff will of course appreciate your generosity which is at your discretion.

What happens if there is an issue while I’m at the villa?

First and foremost, it’s important to note that when you stay with Ambalama, you will be able to speak direct to Ayu, Head of House and the overall manager, Ibu Putu.

What if I have to cancel the booking?

If you have to cancel please inform us as soon as possible.

We strongly recommend you take out travel insurance to cover against this risk. For bookings cancelled more than six months prior the arrival date there is a 10% charge on the total value of the booking. For bookings cancelled 3- 6 months prior the arrival date there is a 50% charge. For cancellations less than 3 months prior we try to find replacement bookings on equivalent terms and will refund up to 50% of the booking if successful.

What do you mean by “privately owned and operated”?

The Ambalama villa portfolio was created by Chris Kidd who actively manages the villa and visits on a regular basis. When you book direct to stay at Ambalama you will be in contact direct with Chris, who will work to make your stay as memorable and pleasant as possible.

Do you accept credit cards?

Payment for the villa rental is generally made to a designated bank account in USD. For local bookings we accept IDR . For the villa rental booking it is possible to pay by credit card through PayPal with a 4.5% fee. When at the villa local expenses can be charged to your credit card with a 3% surcharge.

Been to this villa a few times and never fail to impressed me with their friendly and excellent staff. The rooms and the place are kept clean all the time. Beautiful garden and view of the field with lotus and lilies pond. So peaceful and quiet and away from the busy kuta or seminyak area. If you are looking for tranquility and like to stay in the villa just to relax and unwind, I would recommend you this place.
